Train-the-Trainer is an advanced pathway. Participants must first complete MESS Basic and meet applicable trainer-readiness requirements.

Becoming an Approved MESS Instructor means being entrusted with the MESS Basic learning experience, the integrity of the MESS 6-Part Protocol©, and the preparation of people who may be invited into some of the most vulnerable moments of another person’s life.
That trust is earned through demonstrated helping skill, sound judgment, ethical alignment, instructional preparation, and a commitment to delivering MESS Basic as designed.
Approved Instructors do not simply present content. They help form compassionate, capable Helpers.
Train-the-Trainer is not simply another course. It is a discernment, development, and approval pathway.

The Path to Becoming an Approved MESS Instructor
Becoming approved is a guided process of discernment, preparation, demonstrated competence, and mutual agreement—not an automatic result of attending a course.

Complete MESS Basic
Build and demonstrate the foundation.
Successfully complete MESS Basic with strong participation, understanding of the MESS 6-Part Protocol©, and skillful engagement in the practice labs.
Discern Readiness
Determine whether the role is a strong fit.
Consider helping posture, ethical alignment, dependability, facilitation potential, teachability, sound judgment, and organizational support when relevant.
Complete Train-the-Trainer
Learn to deliver MESS Basic as designed.
Prepare to teach the content, demonstrate skills, facilitate practice labs, provide constructive feedback, manage the learning environment, and complete required course processes.
Demonstrate Competence
Show readiness to carry the responsibility.
Demonstrate content knowledge, instructional skill, sound judgment, effective lab facilitation, ethical alignment, and the ability to protect curriculum integrity.
Complete Approval Requirements
Receive authorization to deliver MESS Basic.
Complete the Approved Instructor Agreement and applicable administrative requirements. Candidates who successfully meet all requirements may receive Approved MESS Instructor status.
Training participation begins the process. Approval is granted only after readiness, competence, and agreement requirements are successfully completed.
Instructor Development
What Instructor Candidates Learn to Do
Approved Instructors need more than content familiarity. They must be prepared to create a strong learning environment, teach MESS Basic as designed, guide skill development, and uphold the standards attached to the MESS name.
Prepare the Course
Organize the approved curriculum, materials, schedule, technology, learning space, student communication, and required administrative processes.
Teach Dynamically
Deliver MESS Basic with clarity, credibility, engagement, and flexibility without drifting from the purpose or integrity of the curriculum.
Demonstrate the Skills
Model the MESS 6-Part Protocol©, helping posture, communication skills, and practical application expected of participants.
Facilitate Practice Labs
Create psychologically and spiritually respectful practice spaces, guide exercises, observe performance, and keep learning productive.
Coach and Evaluate
Offer specific, constructive feedback that strengthens learner confidence and competence without shaming, rescuing, or overpowering.
Close Out Responsibly
Complete attendance, student requirements, evaluations, reporting, materials processes, and other required course-closeout tasks.
The goal is not to produce presenters who can repeat information. The goal is to prepare instructors who can develop compassionate, capable Helpers.

Train-the-Trainer is a professional instructor-development and approval pathway designed to prepare qualified candidates to deliver MESS Basic with skill, consistency, and integrity.
Train-the-Trainer Tuition
$1,845
per instructor candidate
Tuition includes instructor development, authorized training resources, guided teaching and facilitation practice, competency assessment, and the Approved Instructor review process.
After Approval
MESS Basic Delivery Fees
Each time an Approved MESS Instructor delivers MESS Basic, the following fees apply:
- $250 class registration fee
- $45 student licensing and materials fee per registered participant
- 12-student minimum for each MESS Basic class
$250 class registration fee plus twelve student licensing and materials fees at $45 each.
Participation Does Not Guarantee Approval
Candidates must successfully complete the training, demonstrate required competence and readiness, and complete the Approved Instructor Agreement and applicable administrative requirements before receiving authorization to deliver MESS Basic.
Train-the-Trainer tuition and MESS Basic delivery fees are separate from venue, technology, travel, printing, marketing, instructor compensation, and other expenses associated with hosting or delivering a class. Current fees and requirements are confirmed in the Approved Instructor Agreement.

Approved Instructor status carries continuing responsibilities—and MESS Ministries remains a partner in protecting quality, supporting instructors, and strengthening the learning experience.
Approved Instructors Commit To
- Delivering only the course for which they have been approved
- Using current, authorized MESS Basic curriculum and materials
- Protecting intellectual property and curriculum integrity
- Following class registration, attendance, reporting, and closeout requirements
- Maintaining ethical, professional, and instructional standards
- Participating in required updates, coaching, evaluation, and recertification
- Representing MESS Ministries with humility, trustworthiness, compassion, and respect
MESS Ministries Provides
- Authorized MESS Basic curriculum and instructor materials
- Guidance for course preparation, delivery, and administration
- Current program standards, updates, and required processes
- Coaching, consultation, and instructional support
- Quality-assurance guidance and constructive feedback
- Student materials, registration systems, and certificate processes as applicable
- Continued connection with a growing coalition of caring, capable instructors
The specific terms of approval, permitted use, instructor responsibilities, fees, recertification, and continued authorization are defined in the Approved Instructor Agreement and current MESS program requirements.
